Celina Athletic Booster Club Donates 6 Nooks

The  Celina Athletic Booster Club recently donated 6 Nook eReaders to the Celina High School Media Center for check-out to the high school students . The club has supported the library reading program over the years with donations for printed books. The  6 Nook eReaders, which the students will check-out and use just like a book,  have been loaded with 80 new teen, tween and classic novels.

Sheila Baltzell, district media specialist,  researched all eReaders on the market and found the Nook to be the best purchase. Not only has it proven to be reliable and easy to use, Barnes and Noble allows each school corporate account single book purchase to be loaded to 6 Nooks which allows the school library to get 5 more free copies. Most books are $9.99 but some are $1.00 or less. Downloadable classics (that have come off of their legal copyright) make the eReaders even more versatile because those books are sometimes downloadable for free.
In addition, Mrs. Baltzell has prepared an equipment loan agreement for patrons of the library who check-out a Nook. It will be signed/kept on file to hold student patrons and parents responsible for loss and damage. A parent’s signature will be required for those under 18.
