CHS Waterdogs Compete @ State

Round 1 of the State Swimming meet took place Thursday following the Dive finals on Wednesday.  Here are a summary of the results:
Boys Dive: Byer -- 11th, Spengler -- 18th, Schoen -- 23rd
Girls Dive: Schlotterer -- 11th, Hasenjager -- 15th

Boys Swim: 200 medley -- 22nd, 100 fly: Feltz -- 14th, 100 fly: Temple -- 21st
Girls Swim: 200 medley -- 17th, 200 free relay -- 14th, 400 free relay -- 24th, 50 free: Mertz -- 21st
Top 16 in each event advance to the next round.

9 CHS Swimmers Headed to State

Over the weekend, 9 CHS Swimmers advanced from District competition to the State Tournament.  Those Swimmers include:

• Brooke Mertz
• Paige Dorsten
• Makayla Wenning
• Kandace Eichenauer
• Matt Feltz
• Peyton Jones
• Kasyn Fishbaugh
• Tyus Temple
• Tye Spengler

CHS State Bound Divers

On Wednesday, 5 CHS Divers advanced from District competition to the State Tournament.  Those Divers include:

• Dethora Hasenjager
• Olivia Schlotterer
• Collen Byer (Boys Champion)
• Ty Spengler
• Leyton Schoen

Great Week for the Bulldogs

This past week was a memorable one for CHS athletics:

• On Wednesday 2/23, our girls basketball team defeated Wapakoneta in the opening round of the Sectional Tournament.
• Also on Wednesday 2/23, Diver Collen Byer finished 3rd at the State Dive Meet.  
• On Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 9 swimmers & 2 divers competed at the State Meet. 
• On Saturday 2/26, 7 wrestlers competed in the district tournament. 
• Also on Saturday, the girls bowling team competed at Rossford in District action and finished 7th.
• On Friday night (2/25), the boys basketball team clinched sole ownership of the WBL title by defeating OG in tightly contested game.  The boys will be in action on Friday, March 4th in the sectional championship game at Lima Senior.

• On Saturday night (2/26), the girls basketball team defeated #1 seeded St. Marys to clinch the Sectional Championship.  The girls will play in District action at Paulding High School on Thursday night against Toledo Rogers.

Spirit March for Swimmers, Divers, & Wrestlers

This morning, CHS held an impromptu Spirit March to honor our State Swim & Dive qualifiers and District Wrestlers.  Students and faculty lined the hallways and cheered on the athletes as they followed the Marching Band who was playing the fight song.

The CHS Swim & Dive team faired well at the District meet last week, advancing 11 individuals to compete in 8 different events.  Here is the breakdown on individuals & relays by event:

• Collen Byer - dive - 7th seed

• Tye Spengler - dive - 23rd seed

• Eric Muhlenkamp - 100 breast - 9th seed

• Brook Mertz - 50 free - 18th seed

• Girls 200 free relay - 13th seed - Ashley Coon, Paige Dorsten, Brooke Mertz, Alex Parker 

• Boys 200 medley relay - 15th seed - Peyton Jones, Kyle Menchhofer, Eric Muhlenkamp, Tyus Temple

• Boys 200 free relay - 15th seed - Matt Feltz, Peyton Jones, Kyle Menchhofer, Eric Muhlenkamp

• Boys 400 free relay - 23rd seed - Matt Feltz, Peyton Jones, Kyle Menchhofer, Eric Muhlenkamp
